Abrakadabra hiatus spawns Gold Coast in 2000 In 2000, three members of Abrakadabra started composing and producing a CD, “Latitudes”, penned under the group name of Gold Coast. Upon completion in 2001 and through 2003, “Latitudes” received airplay on approximately 500+ stations worldwide and is still receiving airplay on radio and television with a portion of the proceeds donated to charity. To enhance Gold Coast’s own musicality on its original compositions, the Album features Patrice Rushen, Gerald Albright, Ndugu Chancellor, Terri Lyne Carrington, Dave Carpenter, Oscar Brashear and Mamek Kadem. The project also received several awards including: Winner of the L.A. Music Awards/Best Guitarist, Winner of the DIY National Competition as Producer of the Year, Winner JPF National Music Search Competition, Runner-up USA Songwriting competition and John Lennon Songwriting Competition. “Latitudes” was reviewed in: Downbeat, Jazziz, L.A.
